BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – ZERO-EMISSION WATERBORNE MOBILITY AND LOGISTICS

Cities are undergoing a transformation towards zero-emission, autonomous and shared solutions for mobility and logistics. Hyke’s mission is to accelerate this transformation by offering cities, operators, and others a complete zero-emission waterborne transportation solution.

Hyke’s beautiful all-electric ferries are designed for game-changing environmental performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability – an upgrade to any city! Our compact and cost-efficient jetties with automatic docking and charging ensure easy deployment, reduce cost, and improve operational flexibility. Our proprietary software enable autonomous operations and thereby cost-efficiency and scalability. And our proactive market development and deployment services help our partner customers accelerate deployment of waterborne mobility and logistics services. We work with strategic financing partners to bundle these innovations into integrated “as a service” offerings, enabling faster and more scalable deployment of waterborne transport.

We are seeing strong commercial interest for our game-changing offerings from partners and customers around the world, and are gaining traction both in Europe, North America and beyond. In November we were named by TIME as one of the World’s “Best Inventions of 2022”, and in December we were selected by the French Government to provide autonomous waterborne mobility during the Paris Summer Olympics in 2024. Our first commercial operations are coming up in the Spring of 2023, and our pipeline of opportunities is quickly growing.

To capture these business opportunities and scale up our impact to the international market, we are looking for:

Business Development Manager – Zero-emission Waterborne Mobility and Logistics

This role requires you to be (become) a recognized thought-leader on urban mobility and logistics internationally, and you will be a champion in driving the growth of Hyke’s impact in urban mobility around the world. 

Key purpose and objectives include:

  • Play a leading role in identifying, qualifying, and converting customers for Hyke’s integrated waterborne mobility and logistics solutions.
  • Develop business models, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies for Hyke’s integrated waterborne transport solution offerings.
  • Create strategic partnerships in the mobility and logistics industry to generate new business opportunities internationally.
  • Accelerate the scaleup of Hyke’s urban mobility and logistics business.

Some of your daily tasks might be:

  • Propose sales budget for selected segments and/or geographies and lead all efforts to deliver on this budget.
  • Build and maintain a list of prospective customers and partners in selected geographies and segments and maintain records over business development and sales activities.
  • You will need to work closely with key customers to deeply understand their fundamental jobs, pains and gains, using these insights to develop and articulate our segment-oriented value propositions.
  • Analyze market trends by reviewing market reports and interviewing customers to create and manage go-to-market strategies.
  • Actively engage in demand generating activities via virtual and in-person channels.
  • Leading the development of winning business proposals and bids for commercial opportunities in international markets.
  • Take full-cycle ownership over contracted deliverables beyond contract close to ensure friction-less delivery.
  • Analyze customer economics and decision factors to create competitive and adapted offerings and pricing structures.
  • Create convincing and powerful pitches for our solutions in relation to customers’ situation, differentiating as required by regional market specifics.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that helps accelerate and scale up market impact.
  • Work with strategic customers and partners on securing grants and other project financing.

Skills and mindsets we expect you to bring:

  • Proven track record in selling and delivering high-tech solutions to B2B customers in an international market, preferably in the mobility, logistics, transportation, tourism, consulting, architecture, maritime, automotive, aviation, or similar industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills, enabling you to creatively find workable commercial solutions in the field between customers’ needs and requirements and our capabilities and priorities.
  • Analytical and consultative mindset, enabling you to take a long-term approach to developing prospects into paying customers.
  • An entrepreneurial drive and a love of spotting, creating and capturing business opportunities, shaping attractive value propositions that maximize value both for customers, our channel partners and ourselves.
  • You are flexible, inquisitive, open, self-driven and able to work both independently and as part of a multi-cultural and diverse team.
  • You feel a sense of responsibility and urgency in getting things done.
  • Strong communications skills, so you can deeply connect with customers’ situation and effectively communicate the benefits of our offering.
  • Strong interest in working in a fast-growing startup.

Formally, you probably have:

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering, Business Administration / Management, Product Management, Economics, Marketing, or other related fields.
  • 4+ years’ experience with technology-powered products as Business Development Manager, Product Marketing Manager, or similar.
  • Fluency in English – knowledge of additional major languages is highly desirable.
